About Deepdale How to Find Us

The countryside and coastline around Deepdale offer wonderful opportunities for walking and cycling.  There are walking routes for long distance hikers and ramblers, for more relaxed walkers or even if you enjoy a bit of Australian tramping.

We can't offer mountains for hard core mountain bikers, but Norfolk isn't the flat pancake it's often described as, meaning there is something for most cyclists, especially distance and touring cycling.

On Deepdale Farm, we have three circular permissive bridleways* around the South side of the farm, which offer spectacular views of the coastline and Brancaster Staithe harbour.  These are suitable for walkers, cyclists and horse riders.  More information and maps are available further down this page.

The Norfolk Coast Path passes the door of Deepdale Farm heading both East and West along the coast, linking Burnham Deepdale to Hunstanton, Wells-next-the-Sea, Blakeney, Sheringham and Cromer.  For more information visit the Peddars Way and the Norfolk Coast Path website - www.nationaltrail.co.uk/peddarsway

The CoastHopper bus service runs from Hunstanton to Sheringham, and often to King's Lynn and Cromer too (Every 1/2 hour in the Summer and every hour in the Winter).  It stops at nearly every village along the north Norfolk coast, so is a superb service for those wishing to walk the Norfolk Coast Path.  In fact you can stay at Deepdale for the whole of your stay and just hop on and off the bus to start or finish your walking wherever you like.  More information can be found on the Norfolk Green website - www.norfolkgreen.co.uk

There are many other fabulous walks in the local area, including a circular walk around Barrow Common and Brancaster.  More information on these walks can be found on the Brancaster Staithe and Burnham Deepdale website - www.burnhamdeepdale.co.uk

The Hull to Harwich National Cycle Route No1 passes a few miles inland, which takes you West to Hunstanton and King's Lynn and East to Wells-next-the-Sea, Fakenham and Norwich.  Route 1 links with Local Route 30, which runs from Wells-next-the-Sea around the northern and eastern coast of Norfolk.  For more information on the National Cycle Routes in the Deepdale area visit: www.sustrans.co.uk

For other access information around Norfolk visit theNorfolk County Council access website - www.countrysideaccess.norfolk.gov.uk

Deepdale Information can arrange cycle hire for you.  We hope there will be cycle hire onsite at Deepdale early in 2009.  Watch this space for more information.

We are running some organised walks on the farm in the local area.  For more information on events at Deepdale click here.

The best map for cycling or walking the countryside and coastline around Deepdale is the Ordnance Survey Landranger 132 North West Norfolk map
If you want something more detailed then these two maps are great. Deepdale is on the boarder of both. If you are planning to head right along the coast towards Cromer, you'll need the Ordnance Survey Explorer 252 Norfolk Coast East map
This map is an excellent general map of Norfolk, detailed enough for some walking, definitely for cycling.  Ordnance Survey Travel Map - Tour Norfolk 20 map
To go West you'll need Ordnance Survey Explorer 250 Norfolk Coast West map
To go East you'll need Ordnance Survey Explorer 251 Norfolk Coast Central map
